Poetry

In the “She being Brand” poem the author is using a metaphor of testing a car to refer to having a sexual experience with a female who happens to be a virgin. He describes the excitement of having  a new car, however if it’s a extended metaphor of a sexual experience.  In the Coming Home, Detroit, 1968 poem he talks about middle and low class working class, and the setting talks about the American Dream. It shows how the American Dream was a masquerade of false hope. In my opinion it shows how people are blinded by material things and forget about the corruption that we cause on our city everyday. But poem set a mood on the narrator, and our they receive there experience. The “She being Brand” poem talks more about onesself, and the “Near the freeway” talks about as a community of people.

Beats vs Bose

When it comes to quality between the beats and the Bose headphones there about the same quality. However, in there ads they are promoting there brand in a different way. In both ads it shows a certain lifestyle and audience that the brand is encouraging. In the beats ads it shows african americans male athletes with a focused and determined expression. In my opinion its promoting people be to be more like these athletes, and that if you wear beats brand you’ll be able to be as focused as them. In the Bose ads it shows more of a family oriented people which shows multiple pictures of them at different levels which suppose to symbolize music levels. This ad. I feel like the ad. is to focus on people in a middle class background who understand stand the everyday noise that we experience.

Shaving ad comparison

The difference between both photos is that the one on the left look more sophisticated and the one on the right is more straight forward. In the photo on the left you really don’t know that they are marketing a shaving company and the other one is obvious.   Even though there are a lot of differences between the two pictures, they share similarities.

Both images shows a horizontal frame that shows all the people in the image making movement. One image uses black and white and the other image uses color. In the black and white image they are wearing black tights. In the colored image they are using white tights. In the black and white image they are wearing black outfits because they are using a plan background and adds contrast to the photo. The colored image wears white outfits because it’s easy for colors and light to bounce off of it. In the black and white photo the people are making clock hand movements with there hands and feet, and making a shape of a clock. The colored image is playing with shapes and using objets and body to make geometric shapes. The black and white image background is flat. The colored background image is in shape of a square. Both images are using fast shutter , and is capturing the people in the scene in the air.  The black and white scene shows a high contrast to the image which gives the people a stronger highlight on there skin. Which makes the people look more exposed. The color scene shows a low contrast, which gives in the image which makes the highlights on the people lower. But sense there is a use of multiple colors in the scene they are manipulating the light  from the camera. Which causes them to look more exposed in the scene. Both scenes are using freeze motion and are capturing movement. They are positioning there bodies in shape of clock hands
