Lauren Herrera – Project 1 Personal Branding Brief

    1. What values or attributes would you want to explore that represent your brand?

    • I’d like to use this project to create a brand for my photography as that’s currently my main interest and I’d like to find a way to represent my photo style and the type of lens I look through when photographing.

    2. How would you describe your personality? (eg, innovative, approachable, sophisticated, energetic, etc.)

    • I would describe my personality to be introverted, compassionate, a daydreamer, sometimes idealistic, and contemplative.

    3. What emotions do you want your personal brand to evoke in the audience?

    • I would like my personal brand to evoke a feeling of admiration; when I’m taking photos I aim to capture my subject(s) in a way that is both visually pleasing while also maintaining genuinity. When I’m really in the zone of photographing, I will take the time to pay attention to the little details around me and I would like my brand to reflect the beauty that can be seen in not only the little details but also the bigger picture.

    4. Do you have any initial ideas or preferences for the logo’s visual style?

    • As of right now, I just know I want my logo’s visual style to have a dreamy/bubbly feel to it.

    5. Are there any specific symbols, icons, or imagery that should be included in the logo?

    • As of right now, I’m not too sure on specifics but adding icons or imagery would definitely be helpful in enhancing the visual effect of my logo.

    6. What colors do you envision for the logo? Are there any color preferences or associations?

    • I’m definitely thinking of using pastel colors, specifically ones such as pink, purple, orange, and yellow as those are the softest colors in my opinion.

    7. Besides the logo, what other visual elements (typography, patterns, etc.) would complement the personal brand?

    • Typography would definitely compliment my brand but I will test different visual elements once I begin the sketching process.

    8. Are there any individuals or brands that you admire or consider competition?

    • I admire all photographers who are proud of their work; photography is a way for someone to capture their perspective of the world around them and create connections with people who may see things similarly, simply with the use of imagery. It requires a lot of patience but also a lot of quick decision making to get a shot that may only happen for a short moment. A photographer whose work I recently have seen and admire is Erica Reade, specifically her Beach Lovers series which captures intimate moments at NYC beaches. To think that all of her shots were likely made in a split second yet reflect the love between two people so beautifully is really impressive to me.

    9. Do you have any examples of personal branding or logos that you find inspiring?

    • Not really off the top of my head, I have found a lot of simple logos examples for photographers such as simply typography but I would like to push my design to include both imagery and typography if possible.

    10. Where will the personal brand and logo be primarily used? (e.g., social media profiles, website, business cards, presentations)

    • My personal brand and logo will be used for a portfolio website, business cards, and possibly social media profiles.
