My news article is about stop and frisk and how blacks and Hispanics are being targeted and how they are racially profiled and are innocent. This represents a black men who was racially profiled and is binging told to put his hands up. The brick wall background is words that connect to people being stoped and frisked.

News Story Project Chantal

The news story I chose was an article on city bikes and how they contribute or even start gentrification. I think my focal points are the words. If you read the text bubble and the store’s names, it is pretty clear what my topic is. I connected the color green with what is new that makes changes in a neighborhood. The new whole foods, new Starbucks, new bike lanes, and the recycling bin are all green. The side where the stores are at, it’s sunny and where the kid is at, its cloudy.

Sonia’s News Article Project

In my News Article project I picked an article that was talking about the temperature in Antartica hitting a record high of 65 degrees. I decided to make my polar bear the focal point because with the temperature going up they are one of many animals that are greatly effected by this and they are endangered. I tried to make my artwork follow the quote “Less is more” because I think with this topic even though it is a simple piece it speaks volumes. I created value within the blue to make it look more like the ocean. With the polar bear I got a picture from online and edited it to make it have more texture by rubbing water and paint onto the paper. Texture is also shown on the  blue because I used a sponge to dab the paint onto the paper. A sense of depth was created with the polar bear because it lifts off the page a little.  I made the polar bear have tears coming out of its eyes to show how sad the situation is. The ice that the polar bear is standing on is also melting which was created by diluting the paint.

This is my project regarding college athletes not getting paid by NCAA.As a former athlete i believe it’s unfair since the NCAA is making money off of people who are showcasing there talent. The focal point is on the left side you see the athlete in a basket ball court with the bench players cheering him on shooting the “Money Ball”: On the court floor it says get the bag symbolizing for the players to get paid.On the other hand we see a judge trying to stop the athlete from making the money get in the basket while protecting his assets awhile with the jurors look on That’s the focal point. If we look closer there is also movement in the center regarding the athlete shooting the money ball : The feet looks like it’s getting off the ground.Looking at the judge side you can see his robe looks like it’s moving to the athlete while his feet are behind the robe in a tippy toe position.

Newspaper Project Yessica Ramirez

The focal point of this is what is in black and white. This piece is about the corona virus and the violence it has brought to asians. Asians were being harassed because of the virus. There have been many stories of people beating asians because of the virus and blaming them for the cause. The writing in the background is actual facts on the virus. The question marks on top covering these facts is the ignorance of society. There is a high contrast between the black and white and the color on top of the writing. The scale of what is in black and white is pretty big it covers most of the writing in the background. I wanted to show the violence that has occurred since the virus. Also how society is very very ignorant these days.
