Hollywood in the 1930s was filled with spectacles, from the musical fantasies of Busby Berkleey to surreal costumes and sets in The Wizard of Oz and the attention to historical accuracy in Gone with the Wind. These large budget films (the Oz budget was 2.77M and Gone with the Wind cost approx. 3.9M) demonstrate the desire to create an immersive cinema that transported audiences from the somber realities of the Great Depression. Listen to the short NPR news story on the making of Gone with the Wind and note the grand scale of the production, from the long casting process to the interest in historical accuracy as well as the subsequent controversies.

  1. The United States men’s amateur national rugby team constitute the largest segment of the United States population in men’s professional world rugby. Named the Eagles, it is technically governed by USA Rugby, the governing body for this sport of rugby in the whole country. A number of other teams and companies exist in association with the Eagles and some of their memberships. Some of these are dependent in Florida, while others are centered in Maryland. All these different affiliates of the Eagles are part of the United States rugby association (USRSA).

  2. Valued clientele love revenue and the excitement they bring. Retailers understood this and decided to create special days to encourage more people to shop. The timing and the day of the week that you shop is very important. All through the week of thanksgiving day, clients were able to get a breather from the usual irritating schedule of office work and school. They could Sweets take a break and buy things they want for black Friday.
