LABORATORY SCHEDULE

Course Description

This course is a continuation of Anatomy and Physiology I. It covers the study of the structure and function of the cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, digestive and endocrine system, as well as development, metabolism, electrolytes and acid base balance.

 Expectations

It is expected that students MUST attend all laboratory sessions. Students must attend all labs.  Activities may be given at the beginning of each lab. Grades from these activities will go towards lab assignment grade. Failure to complete these assignments because of being absent or late will affect your assignment grade. Therefore, it is important that you are present and arrive to class on time.

The assigned chapters or laboratory assignments for each week are given in the syllabus. Students are expected to familiarize themselves with the reading material prior to classes. Not only will that help in comprehending the lectures, but that’s a great way to begin learning the material for exams. Labs will begin with a Power Point presentation of the topic. Slides and other materials will be available online on Blackboard. You are responsible for downloading and making your own copies. If there are problems with downloading the online information please contact the help desk. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE POWER POINT SLIDES WILL NOT REPLACE THE ASSIGNED READINGS OR LECTURES.

Tests

There will be six (6) written tests and one practical exams. Exam formats will include multiple choice, short answer, fill-ins, drawings, labeling etc. The final exam will not be cumulative. The answers to every exam will be discussed.   Tentative Exam dates, not quizzes, are also indicated on the syllabus. The final grade given to your lecture professor will be calculated as 40% of your overall course grade. If you miss a test, documentation is required to get a makeup. No documents will result in 5 – 10% deduction. Furthermore, a different test will be given.

Assignments

You are responsible for all assignments given. Each assignment will be due the following lab session. You can either submit the page(s) from lab the manual or you can type it and then hand it in. Each assignment will be awarded a certain number of points, 20 – 100. The total number of points accumulated will used to calculate your assignment grade. All assignments will be counted as one test grade.

Grading

As indicated above 40% of your overall grade will come from the lab. The 40% is broken down as follows;
