Reading “ A Talk To Teachers” and watching “ I Am Not Your Negro” By James Baldwin I found a quote important. He says “ But a black child, looking at the world around him, though he cannot know quite what to make of it, is aware that there is a reason why his mother works so hard, why his father is always on edge.” I found this quote to be important because it’s still something that is going on now, even though we aren’t segregated by color anymore. African American children still go through a lot and have to be taught how to act in certain situations. He also says “What societies really, ideally, want is a citizenry which will simply obey the rules of society.” I believe this is important because I think its true society doesn’t want a outspoken person society just wants someone that follows the rules.Â
