Week 6

This week was filled with many eventful activities. It was Brittany’s birthday so we got to go out for breakfast and celebrate, I got to ride Everest for the first time ever with one of my roommates which was awesome, and a couple of my high school friends came down to visit. Work has been slowly becoming more stable, for now I shall be closing the shops for the next few weeks. While I had mentioned previously that the night shift wasn’t the best because I couldn’t go out, I realize that those are the best days to focus on my wellbeing. On days that I close, I have the ability to sleep until whatever time I wasn’t which is very satisfying after having to wake up everyday super early. The only downside I find is that when I’m closing on Tuesday nights, it’s difficult to wake up for class the next day

The thing that I looked forward to the most this week was my friends’ visit. I was extremely concerned for a couple of weeks prior to this because taking off from word and switching shifts has been difficult. They were coming in on Friday in the morning, staying Saturday, and then leaving Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, I was scheduled to work Friday Night, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning meaning I wouldn’t have any time with them. At the very last minute fortunately, I was able to switch my Friday shift for morning rather than night. This opened my schedule up about 12 hours which was awesome because that meant that I go to hang out with them. I was decided that taking them to Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party was the best thing to do because ticket prices are cheaper, there are less people in the park, and there are so many things to do and see. I was surprised at how well everything went honestly. For $95 we were able to get on a large portion of the rides, go trick-or-treating, get to meet some characters, and watch the parades, the fireworks, and the Hocus Pocus show. It was an awesome night and they seemed to have a lot of fun. I was hoping they would visit me on Sunday while I worked, but it didn’t work out which was unfortunate.

I started classes a couple of weeks ago, and I am so glad I scheduled my classes all in the same day. My first class is Organizational Leadership, and surprisingly its a very entertaining class and I’m learning so much. This class teaches you about the psychology of leadership. Its a very interactive class which is super enjoyable. This week for example, we did the desert experiment. Basically we had a scenario where my group members and I were stranded in a desert after a plane crash and we had to use a certain amount of resources for our survival. First we made the choices on our own and then we worked together to survive using the same resources. It was really awesome to see who would survive. Of all of the people in our class, only one girl survived which was so interesting to see. My group only survived about 3 days which was not long. Overall, this is my favorite class and I enjoy learning about the different types of leadership positions as well as figuring out the dynamics between leaders and followers.
