Read and React 4

At the end of October some of the magic from the program was going away in my experience. Waking up to making foot longs and chicken tenders with fries everyday was not keeping the magic alive for me. When November started my leaders noticed on their own we needed some motivation and they started making goals on the boards in the kitchen. Making us reach a certain goal of desserts sold in order to receive prizes, each week making them better prizes. We started with a Mickey ice cream bar, then a snack credit, then a quick service meal and now we are at a pizza party. Every cast member was more excited to go to work a request to guests some of our new desserts. In my opinion it was nice to have some sort of motivation and to have the leaders notice on their own that we needed it. I can relate my experience to “Why employees stay” article because the gesture that my leaders had is exactly what every employee wants to see from their managers. Every employee wants to be noticed and appreciated and in my job they did. For that reason it not only made me more motivated but it brought a lot more of the excitement back for me. I also believe that what the article says about how companies should take into consideration employee loyalty, “The interviews conducted with long-term employees reinforced the employees’ sense of loyalty by having management select them and then connect with them in a personal way. The research also suggests that it would be helpful for management to know their employees’ financial needs so that they could manage more effectively.” I can also relate to this because as more time has passed since I got to sunset I have noticed that the full time employees have a good connection and relationship with our leaders. All of the leaders know their employees and know their financial and personal needs which is very important for the relationship. I also believe it allows employees to feel more at home and comfortable at work and I believe this is why there are many employees at Sunset that have been there for 10 and more years.
