Working as a housekeeper I have learned many things. Before working as a housekeeper, I imagined the department being big and one of the most important to a lodging operation. However, after being cross-trained, I have realized that is much bigger than what I imagined it to be. The housekeeping department is a branch from the lodging operation, and the housekeeping department has its own branches as well. The branches include house person, amenities person, house keeper, and a base. Every role is vital to the success of the operations in the housekeeping department. Having the opportunity to cross-train in each role gave me an actual insight of what it really takes for a lodging operation to run accordingly. There is a lot that happens behind the scenes that the guests will never see but need to be done. It also allows me to see things in different perspectives as a future manager.
