This essay seeks to analyze the ā€œCalvin Gets a Jobā€ Mc Donaldā€™s commercial series and creatorā€™s used encoded messages to encourage young black men to apply for employment. The messaging of this commercial will be deconstructed in part using Barthesā€™, Saussureā€™s, and Peirceā€™s semiotic terminology and Stuart Hallā€™s representation theory.
