Here are the questions to which you should respond in your reading response:
- Find 1 example of work from a postmodern graphic designer from the 1980s and 1 example of work from a contemporary graphic designer from the last five years.
- Deconstruct the works and explain which visual and/or ideological elements are associated with Postmodernism of the 1980s and why.
Prince “SIGN O THE TIMES” Album cover falls under the aspect of the zine culture within the postmodernism. This is more of that design because there is a bit of text but doesnt really stand out as much as the aspect of the visualization of the instruments and plants. This gives the audience a sense of mystery and be curious about what’s going to happen next.
This album cover for The Weeknd’s “Dawn fm” provides a better understanding with the style as it regulates to more of the cyberpunk, glitch art wave explained by Bruno Pego. The aesthetic of the design appeal was really unique as the head looks as though it is shining and the use if the font being very future like. However this was just a prototype.
