    BEFORE READING THE JOB AD:

The job needs a graphic designer who is flexible with hours and is experienced in Design Software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign, and Premiere. They are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and is constantly inspired. I believe they are also seeking someone who has a creative and innovative ability to create something different and brand new for their company.

    AFTER READING THE JOB AD:

Yes, in the beginning it shows that it’s a must that the ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail. But maybe also include that you have excellent time-management and organization skills and is able to work quickly on multiple projects to reach their specific deadline. I would also mention, that you have a passion in design. I like how you mention your constant motivation at the beginning of your letter. Also, mention that you are great with working with teams and your ability to support others in the creative process since this job results in working closely with other designers, project management, and art directors. Also, maybe show a tone that you are very confident with your work.

WHAT KIND OF APPLICANT ARE YOU?

This letter makes you a good applicant. I feel like you should include more and maybe differentiate from other candidates. I like the idea of you mentioning typography, maybe you should repeat more of that tone, and it reminds them that you are someone they can get along with but also knows their stuff.

    GRAMMAR ERRORS/SPELLING/MECHANICAL ERRORS:

    1. I am writing in response…I am an up and coming graphic designe : Those two paragraphs should be together.
    2. 1st paragraph: “ I specialize in bringing design visons to life.
    3. Last sign off: “ Thank you for your time,” Katherine Pena

But other than that, great job. This is definitely working to be a successful cover letter for the company!

•Reverse Engineer the Letter: Without looking at the job ad/listing, read the letter. Then write down what you think the job ad says—you are reverse engineering the letter/ad by doing this—trying to see if you can figure out the job ad just from the letter.
 *The applicant is applying for a position as a graphic designer.
•Read the job ad. Were you close in your reverse engineering attempt? If you were, then the letter probably meets with some of the employer’s needs. If you weren’t, has the author missed understanding the employer’s needs? Or have they just emphasized certain things and overlooked others?
 *My guess matches the job ad.
•Does the letter make the person applying seem like a good applicant; an unappealing applicant; or an outstanding applicant?
       *Outstanding applicant
•Explain why and how you made the judgment in #3. If the applicant was not an outstanding candidate, explain what you think the author needs to do to get into a higher pile.
 *The applicant has listed their skills which are relative to the qualifications in the job ad.
•Is the letter free of spelling, mechanical, and grammar errors? Let the author know about the errors you see.
 *I did not find an spelling or grammatical errors, however, I suggest that the appropriate spacing between each sentence be used (two spaces between each new sentence). Otherwise the letter is very interesting and I would hire this applicant.
