When a woman loves a man
David Lehman said, âWhen a woman loves a man, she wants him to meet her at the airport in a foreign country with a jeep. When a man loves a woman heâs there. He doesnât complain that sheâs two hours late and thereâs nothing in the refrigerator.â These are some differences in the ways how men and woman show their love. They think differently, they have different desires in their hearts that wants to be fulfilled by the one another. Â The poem, âWhen a Woman Loves a Manâ by David Lehman, addresses their compromise in a relationship, expectations towards each other, and the meaning of love.
In a relationship bicker cannot be avoided, so people would always compromise with each other. In the poem it says, âThey fight all the time Itâs fun What do I owe you? Letâs start with an apology Ok, Iâm sorry, you dickheadâ. In a relationship, when one person apologize to the other first while they are having a fight, they would turn their head down to the other first to show what he or she have done because love is powerful. People could have fights for many different reasons, for example, misunderstanding a personâs words, therefore compromise is an important element in a relationship to be able to resolve the conflicts. To be able to live together with harmony, a man needs to understand the womanâs thoughts better. The poem states, âWhen she says tomorrow she means in three or four weeks. When she says, âWeâre talking about me nowâ, he stops talking. These lines are saying that men should understand the thoughts of the womanâs heart while they are having a conversation, so he kept his mouth shut as she expresses her heart.
Compromise in a relationship is to accept the facts and to accept the pass with love still in both hearts. In the poem it states, âRipe apples fall about them. What else can they do but eatâ, is saying that apples are falling down to the ground, and the only thing we can do is eat them. This is like, in the relationship when its getting to a hard or difficult point and you ask yourself, âwhat more can you do if you want to keep this relationshipâ, but to be understandably inclusive of the other person and overcome it. The mistake has already been make and the better decision is not to get into a fight or blame the other. It is best to be understanding and forgive. It is not easy for two people to fall in love to one another, live with gratitude and love each other regaurding the things they go through.
Compromise in a relationship is knowing understanding your loverâs thoughts, knowing what she is thinking about, and knowing what she wants inorder to be the key to her heart and to fufill her desires. âWhen a woman loves a man, she wants him to meet her at the airport in a foreign country with a jeep. When a man loves a woman heâs there. He doesnât complain that sheâs two hours late and thereâs nothing in the refrigerator.â These lines in the poem tells that when the girl love her man, she will want him to go find her and meet her. On the other hand, when a man loves a girl, he will want to go see her. They all know each otherâs need so the girl make a chance to let the boy find her and so the boy fuifill the girlâs desire.
In a relationship the lovers will have the expectations and wants each other to accomplish something. In the poem it says âAnd when she says, âIâll never speak to you againâ, she means, âPut your arms around me from behind as I stand disconsolated at the window. Heâs supposed to know thatâ. The woman expected the man to really understand her true thoughts from her heart, even when she said the opposite words.
In a relationship the womanâs expectations towards the man is to read her heart, remember what she likes, what she is thinking and what she is feeling most of the time. Knowing her by heart, letting her live in your heart, sharing eveything in your life with her, and know what she except you to accomplish. âWhen a woman loves a man, she wants him to meet her at the airport in a foreign country with a jeep.When a man loves a woman heâs there. He doesnât complain that sheâs two hours late and thereâs nothing in the refrigeratorâ She expects that her man will come to find her and meet her. The man reaches her exceptions to go see her and didnât care that he have to wait for two hours.
In a relationship, expectations toward each other are to compromise to the other person. When they are having a fight someone must accept the other to apologize first so the situation is cooled down. Â âThey fight all the time Itâs fun What do I owe you? Letâs start with an apology Ok, Iâm sorry, you dickhead. âThese quote says that one of the person turn their head down to the other first to let the situation to pacify. Trust takes an importance place in a relationship. It relates to the future of two people. âOne year they broke up seven times and threatened to do it another nine times.â Â This quote means that in this year they had a lot of conflict between each other, then lead them to break ups and even more frequently after time.
The meaning of love is to let her feel secure, let her know that you are not going to leave her for any reason and let her relax and do the things she wants. To respect her decisions and thoughts. The man should handle the hard work outside and be the backbone for the family. In the poem âWhen a woman loves a man and it is 1:10 in the morning, she is asleep he is watching the ball scores and eating pretzels drinking lemonade and two hours later he wakes up and staggers into bed where she remains asleep and very warm.â This means that when a woman loves a man, she can fall asleep beside him no matter what he is doing because she feel secure and warm from the heart.
The meaning of love is, unconditional to people who bring the good out of you, two people whoâs not perfect come together and became one perfect couple, Â to always let your girl be the most happiest person and when she staying with you, she donât need to worry about losing you because you will stay beside her no matter what happens. âOr she is wearing a sweater and sunglasses in Balboa Park and he is raking leaves in Ithacaâ. This image of the passage shows that when the man is raking leaves he let his girl to stay in the park comfortable with the sun glasses on, relaxing. Itâs a way showing love that he is able to do any job for her and let her stay in a fancy living style.
The meaning of love is feeling of not satisfied with the insufficient time. The time couples spend with each other is always insufficient. They need more and more time for each other and want to stick together every second. âWhen a woman loves a man, she wants to stay awake. Sheâs like a child crying at nightfall because she didnât want the day to end.â In other words, a woman will be unwilling to fall asleep at night because she donât want to accept the fact that a day passed away and the time she can spend with her loved one have lessened. A woman will never be satisfy by the amount of time she could spend with her man because she wants to stay with that stupid man forever. A woman will only react this way when she falls in love with a man.
The meaning of love is to always trust your girl no matter what, just because she love you. Trust take an important character between the couples, you should always trust your girl, because she love you, everything she ask you to do have her meaning behind it. A healthy relationship should not have lies. They will trust each other no matter what. When a woman loves a man it is one ten in the morning she is asleep he is watching the ball scores and eating pretzels drinking lemonade and two hours later he wakes up and staggers into bed
where she remains asleep and very warm. These passage shows that, the girl trust that the man will never leave her when she is sleeping so thatâs the reason she can remain sleep and warm. No matter what he is doing beside her.
The poem âWhen a Woman Loves a Manâ by David Lehman this poem addresses compromise in a relationship, expectations towards each other and the meaning of love. Just like how they says here love is unconditional, the  insufficient time and the infinity trust within the two people in the relationship.
