Prologue to “Invisible Man” Summary

  1. The author addresses the theme of feeling invisible.He is a black man.People around him refused to see him, they only see the thing surrounding him, everything but beside him.Being invisible can be serve as an advantage and a disatvantage, sometimes it will make him think that is himself really exist or not. And sometimes he will do some action to the people to make them recognize him.
  2. Man beats up another man because of being bumped. The tall blond man calling him an insulting name. And he attack that blond tall man asking for a aplogize.He keep beating him ,at the last he even take out the knife attempt to cut his throat.At the last he realize that the man insult him because he can not see him.
  3. He chooses to live underground. He lived in a buliding for free and only allowed white people lived there.He use the service of Monopolated Light& Power and pay thhem nothing.
  4. Although he calls himself the invisible man,he likes to live in the light because it reminds him that he is alive. Lights confirms him reality and give birth to his form.Without light he is formless.
  5. Ultimately the main character claims he never really felt alive until he became invisible.
