I believe that mental and physical health are equally important. The non-profit organization and website Active Minds founded by Alison Malmon, sheds some light towards mental health and mental illness. I am deeply saddened to read the section called ‘Our Story’. At times we cannot physically tell if a person is going through any mood or anxiety disorders. Active Minds is a good website for getting involved in mental health advocacy through its campus chapters. In addition, there are many resources on this website for people that need help or what to do when you see someone you care about in distress. We need to get rid of the stigma surrounding mental illness, and this organization is a good step towards that.

Active minds is an awesome organization. Unfortunately, tragedy occurred for someone to reach out to so many people with mental illness. Many people will still be afraid to speak up but having a chapter on campus can help. If someone in Active minds can save one life or get help for students that’s wonderful. Many students suffer from depression, stress or anxiety it is always great to have a choice to speak with someone who really understands. Every college should have an Active minds chapter.
Many people do not undetstand the mental stress that college students face every day. The active mind chapter is there to provide the needed enviroment for students who suffer from mental disorders such as anxiety problems and depression. It seeks not to only provide counseling but a haven where students can freely express themselves about issues such suicidal thoughts that can be caused by anxiety and stress from college life. Student face a change in thier perspective on life when entering college and the active mind chapter seek help those in need. I am happy such a program exist to give students a voice on mental illness.
Active Minds sounds like a great support system for college students. It is always unfortunate to hear when someone takes their own life. Allison Malmon has taking the tragedy of her brothers suicide and is using it to help others. It is great that the organization has spread to more than 400 campus chapters, and hope that students are using the services.
Active minds seems like a fantastic idea that should be seen more before college. Alot of people that i know went through there toughest times before college and usually by college have most of it all figured out. The cause and focus of active minds is wonderful and could afford to be found sooner than my last year of college. it should be added to highschool or atleast in the first part of college.
