Sample Desmos project

Below is a copy of what a student submitted last fall for her Desmos project. As you can see, she included a brief description of the project, together with the Desmos link. For her presentation, she had prepared a detailed lesson using the board together with Desmos. In particular, she initially had most of her Desmos project hidden and then turned on the components one at a time during the lesson.

In this lesson, I am going to introduce the three basic transformations of a polygon in a 2 – coordinate plane using Desmos as a tool to present the work. I used Desmos to create polygons starting with creating points. Typically, I worked on basic transformations of a triangle: translation, reflection, and rotation. I used the table to create the points of a triangle. Also, I changed the point style to segment style so I can have the sides of a triangle. Then, I will use two main methods to do these transformations either by moving the points or writing out the coordinates of each point.

Introducing Violanda Lubani

My name is Violanda Lubani. I am from Montenegro ( a small country in Southeastern Europe) , but my ethnicity is Albanian. I came to United States three years ago with my family.

I speak Albanian , English , and I understand and speak a little Spanish ( I learned it from “Telenovelas” – Spanish movies).

I became interested in Math since I was in the first grade, and when I was in junior high I became even more interested because I had a professor that was very difficult and hard grader. So, in order to get a good grade,I had to work really hard, and all that work made me like math even more.  I choose to become a Math teacher for many reasons. First reason is to complete my father’s wish. Second reason is that I like Math, and I like to teach it to students. And the third one is that I want to convince future generations that Math is not that difficult and that is a language itself that is beautiful.

My favorite math topic is Calculus, and my least favorite math topic is Probability & Statistics.

I used Maple in Math1476l, and Matlab in Math 2630! I would be interested in learning any technology that is relating to Math even though that I am not a person that likes technology in general.

After I graduate I hope to work as a Math Teacher and Tutor .

Other things that I like to do beside Math are cooking and and going out with family and friends.

Introducing my self

My name is Hanan , I am a mother of 4 kids , before marriage I was studying pharmacy unfortunately I didn’t finish it , later on I decided to finish my education I  choose to be a math teacher since I have experience with kids from school I use to attend to help them in math courses , its really not an easy thing to do especially when you have kids and too much responsibilities , I love people and I love to deal with any kind , I feel like every one has a unique personality . Math is a very interesting subject  still I feel you still need to study and work more in order to be achieve , My goal is to make sure I understand the  topic  so I will be able to explain it to my student clearly , and finally I will say every body has a dream  and we all try to make it , but if we couldn’t we  try  and   no body perfect in this life.
