Job Description:
Position: Part Time Instructor- Thursday
Functions:
• Be familiar and able to teach the provided curriculum by the time class starts.
• Lead classroom in required curriculum without any assistance. Classroom size of at most 24 students at different age group. Age group is divided by Junior class (4 – 6 years old) and Senior class (6 – 13 years old). Class runs about 1 – 1.5 hours in 6-weeks, 8-weeks, 10-weeks, 12-weeks sessions.
• Responsible for preparing a suitable learning environment for students, supplying class with necessary materials and setting up classroom equipment. All lessons are project based and require students to be hands on. Require 15 – 30 minutes of prep time before the start of class and 15 – 30 minutes of clean up at end of class.
• Be able to communicate with parents, directors, principles.
• Participate in special events such as workshops, training, etc. Travel to site, school, camps, festival, events, parties, etc. are at personal expense.
Qualifications:
• Experience with LEGO® Robotics is a plus.
• Experience with Scratch program is a plus.
• Experience with Makey Makey & littleBits is a plus.
• Background in engineering, science, or teaching/child care is a plus.
• Must be flexible and dependable to work on Thursdays from 2:30PM – 5:30PM.
• Must be able to travel to Manhattan.
Compensations:
$15-20 per hour of teaching class.
