According to the Oxford Languages dictionary on Google, civil disobedience means āthe refusal to comply with certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, as a peaceful form of political protest.ā In simpler terms, it means the refusal to obey. I believe that Antigone did engage in civil disobedience because she went against Creon and buried her brother out of love. Even though she disobeyed the king, I feel like what she did was right and what she was passionate about doing, even if it meant putting herself in trouble. I also feel like because he is her brother, she felt like it was necessary to bury her brother.Ā
