Lab 5

The compositional principle I used in taking this image was the use of different angles. I liked how this turned out with the focus on the smooth leaf and the plant behind it being out of focus.

Lab 4 Effect

I laid out a piece of cloth that covered both the background and underneath the pieces of paper to create one flowing background. I tried different angles and levels of exposure and these were the ones I liked best because of how the darkness allows for more detail to come out.

For the background I did the same thing as I did with the first sets of photos to have a consistent background. I liked these images the best because of the shadows that contrast from the background and color of the paper. My favorite is the one I shot from above the pile.

Discussion 3

Bresson discusses how he takes his photos, the most important aspect being the exact moment you capture when taking a photo. He says you cannot redo a moment or make a person reenact the same facial expression or movements exactly as they were. Being decisive was a strong point he made in this video. He also discussed how he would wait in one place for a subject to come by and take a picture at the perfect moment. I appreciate how natural he wants his photos to be and the time and effort he will put in to get the perfect photo.

Lab 3 Figure/Ground

I think the dark contrast in the color of the floor and the lightness of the photo make both the photo and color of the floor pop. It helped to move around and see how the light would hit the floor and the photo.
