Final Critique

I chose Dameul’s photo because of the high contrast between all the colors, shadows, and highlights. There are many leading lines bringing your eye in all directions. It is also using a rule of thirds almost feeling like a collage from the different reflections. I chose Olivia’s photo because of the interesting overhead angle as well as the interesting reflections on the jar of peanut butter and the fridge. Also, her face, shoulder, and hair have a diffused looking lighting yet on the jar and fridge it looks like direct lighting.

Bonnie’s Photo

In Bonnie’s Photo I like the contrast of the shadow. It is strong and leading lines of the shadow tells you the direction the light source is coming from.

Georgina’s Photo

I like the worm’s eye view we get from this photo and that it is only focusing on what is right in front of you. The background is blurred which gives it depth of field.

Jeeniya Dewan

In Jeeniya’s picture she uses a long shot of a neighborhood landscape. If this was edited on Lightroom then I really love how the colors reflect off the buildings. The trees in the foreground also add a little bit of frame within a frame.

Tyler Zech

In Tyler’s picture I can get more of a high angle. Since the picture was shot at a certain angle I can see how big this temple looks.

Midterm Critique

I really love this low angle shot of these buildings. It directly tells the viewer that this is a cityscape. It’s interesting there is a reflection beaming off the circular reflective object. This creates a distortion with the outer edge of the linear building and even the clouds. The vertical line on the tall building gives a leading line factor in the photograph. The relationship between the foreground and background is apparent and I like that there is a contrast between sky and buildings. The saturation of the blue definitely enhances the composition and makes the photo pop while also highlighting the focal point. Very cool shot!

This photograph by Olivia definitely stood out to me because this picture was taken in the dark and yet the highlight on the building is so pronounced! There is a nice highlight and looks like the light source is coming from underneath. The high angle shot looks really cool in the nighttime and I also like the lit windows in the darker shadowed building. It adds a natural contrast. The sky is a hazy navy-blue color which doesn’t blend with the darkness on the side of the building but adds a monochromatic touch. The circular saturated blue light by the building to the edge of the photo also adds to the blueness of the sky. Great photograph!

Bonnie’s Photo

The first thing I noticed about Bonnie’s photo was the strongly contrasted shadows caused by direct light that form a bit of a pattern that draws the viewers eyes to the left. Bonnie also applied shallow depth of field to make the close-up object blurry from an eye-level view in comparison to the rest of the shot.

Cassidy’s Photo

Cassidy’s photo has a lot of warm, vibrant colors that really drew me into the photo. There is an emphasis on the shadows and darker areas of the photos as there is also emphasis on the bright areas. The low angle shot allows for us the see the shape that the glass ceiling is making with the building that draws the eye in.
