âFace Mask Fears: Some Black Men Say Wearing … – Youtube.com.â Good Morning America , Good Morning America, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG7L2LUUiJ8
Part 2 Summary
In the Good Morning America video clip “NAME title” national correspondent Jericka Duncan reported that many black men fear theyâll be labeled a threat if they wear a mask to protect themselves. Duncan interviewed black men that told their stories of being racially profiled, or feeling uncomfortable in a situation with a face covering. A doctor from Florida was stopped for having a face mask while off-loading his truck. Duncan also interviewed two black young men who were forced to leave Walmart because they were wearing a surgical face mask, even though itâs mandatory to wear a face mask. She also interviewed Prof. Ibram X. Kendi from American University who talked about how black peopleâs perception of fear against cops is based on the amount of times blacks have been profiled.
RAB Reflection
The reason I selected this video, it get a black person aspect of racially profiling, and how they ??? handled it. I was racially profiled, they ??? tell you that you fit a description of crime just to search you. The best thing to do is comply so it doesnât escalate. When you donât it gives the cops that are trigger happy a reason to pull their gun, which in most situation leads to death. Iâve learned that you can’t stop from being racially profiled, some people just have prejudice minds and they pass it down to the people around them it keep going on and on. So if you think it’s going to stop your living in a dream, it’s how you handle situation, can you walk away from it?Â
When I looked at the viewer comments I saw how many black people have encountered this exact situation. It‘s real. The viewers are commending Duncan for bringing it to the light. Black people donât have the voice we really need, yeah we have our phone videos and views but what is that really doing? The prejudiced people are just looking at the video, and laughing at us getting belittled. All this will stop only when black people come together and stop taking advantage of the cover of masks to do more crimes.
ADDD STUFF WE TALKED ABOUT>>>one sentence about the COps can easily mistake me for another black fellow criminal that they are chasing becaseu I match that build and the masks makes me unable to disarm the police into realzing you are not that bad.
Rhetorical/ Genre Analysis:
Duncans audience is the Good America news viewers. Duncan’s purpose of the interviews is to show the viewers the thingsWHAT black men go through, and those were only minor encounters. Duncan wants to bring news media attention to how racial profiling has increased for black men because of mask-wearing. WHATmask and how it makes you unable to disarm the police into realzing you are not that bad.
