RAB Proposal Paragraph- Emely

My research Question is: How has the coronavirus pandemic affected the mental health of young people ? This topic interests me because I’m not talking out of perspective, but out of my own personal experience.  I’ve been through depression, anxiety, and isolation because of covid. In the middle of the pandemic I felt so sad, and had so many mixed emotions that it affected the way I eat, and sleep. I still have some side effects to this day. I already know that young people have been affected a lot because some young adults had a career path and weren’t able to complete it . They also lost their jobs on the way and had to move back in with their parents. My high school senior year was different too. We spent day and night on the computer trying to complete assignments, not only that when we were applying for colleges it made the transition to college very hard and stressful. It wasn’t the same, I felt like we didn’t get enough information from our peers on how college is or going to be. The Pandemic took so many great possibilities, and made everything not Normal. School and friendships weren’t the same, It made it hard to have friends. For us young people, it took away our chances of being successful, and changed our way of how we feel and see things. Some points that I plan to Explore and find out more about are: How are these young people coping and finding a solution to their problems? I want to know how solving them helped them find new things to explore? Was coming out of their comfort zone helpful or How was it helpful? Is the life of a teen mom gonna be the same during the pandemic? How was their mental state during the pandemic and being pregnant? I want to know everything about their progress and final steps.

  1. The topic you have picked is interesting to me because mental health plays a huge role in your future. I suffer from mental health issues myself but I don’t let it stop me. I hope you’ve been able to break out of the shell the pandemic placed us in. The pandemic definitely made young people’s lives harder. Some people who suffer from those mental health have turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with it. I think your going to have a good essay by the time you finish all of the research. I want to know the steps young people have taken to get back on their feet.

  2. Great comment from Gary!

Great topic–I believe many of us feel mental health impacts and so this research project promises to be very interesting to all of us. We will all be interesting to hear what you learn and what you write. There is absolultely a lot of information on your topic. GO Emely!
