Mentor Text Analysis-Sangay Dolma

The article i read was, “Floyed’s Death Shows We Cannot Wait To End Racism” by Eddie S. Glaude jr. In the introduction, the author brings attention to the recent death of George Floyed, a black man who was killed under inhumane circumstances by white police. The text utilizes statistics on the number of people who were killed by police brutality and brutal Covids in Minnesota. The writer elaborates on the point by giving examples of how people like Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery lost their lives in incidents that shadow Black-Americans. The writer responded to these incidents with the question “how do we change.” The writer concluded the article with the suggestion that, “We must figure out how to be together differently in a new America.” The audience is black Americans because the author suggested that, “but we cannot wait on them.” The message is about how black Americans are being killed by racially-motivated hate crime. The article is 3pages long.

  1. This is an intriguing topic. You wrote this very well and provided less context and more analysis. This issue has been an ongoing issue especially here in the US. Overall, really good topic.
