In this video, a man shows how is it to make a Louis Vuitton shoe. He starts with a x-acto blade cutting the leather he needs to start working on the shoe. He handles every part of the shoe with care. The man makes sure to measure every length and compare it with a shoe thats already. He uses tons of machinery to work on the shoe. Every step is important to making the shoe right. He makes sure to use extra material so that he can cut off some if he needs to. The stitching part is my favorite, he so concentrated on every stitch and does it easily. After the stitching, the man starts to put everything else together. With the bottom part of the shoe glueing it and using a machine to make sure it sticks. After he’s done with bottom part he then paints over it with the famous Louis Vuitton color red. and then put the finishing touch to the shoe and packs it up for sale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6wGSFcE_lc

The Google World
While in the article, James Grimmelmann explains how companies, individuals and even the government tries manipulate google to make their job easier, its safe to say that google has a control of what people see, hear and read. In order to find what one is looking for, one must have the exact url, if not they just get off tracked and sent to many there websites that has nothing to do with what you’re looking for. Also while one might think they’re a internet sensation because of the hits they have accomplished, google doesn’t see it the same way in facts they focus on themselves and who’s using google and to google what. On another note, google has gotten bombed (googlebombs). But no matter how many bombs they throw at google, google will still keep doing what it does best and that feeding the servers and waiting for the results. More information on how google is in control, look at how they have destroyed the search king search engines from number 8 to number 4. Even though people might not like it google is at the top of search engines.
Which is better?
While searching on the internet, it gives people the answer but not information on how is was given. Unlike the internet open access, the library database are move specific with research. Having the scholarly articles, journals and newspaper articles the library database are more useful and get right to the topic. With using just a short topic phrases and adding words like and, or, and not you can find tons of useful researches for what people are searching for. Using the internet source such as Google or msn or yahoo, one might have to type in the whole sentence on what someone is looking for. I prefer the library database anything. It’s useful and have helped me find tons of information and my research for my classes. For example, some subjects that I have looked in to are police brutally, the life without nature, the engineering world and etc. But for the google search it didn’t give me any luck but pop ups and other sites to look into and switching my searches.
Better Access
While searching on google i found articles that were helpful but then i used google scholar and i could use detailed words. And i have the option of being more specific with my search. Its like an database from the school library. With just using key words such as AND, OR, and NOT i found plenty of information for what i was searching for. I feel that google scholar can help me with the research papers i have to do in the near future. It has articles, journals, and newspaper writing from different dates and you can choose to cite your work or if you want it from a open access or toll access.
Opening the internet world to others!
I think it’s a great thing that Facebook and Google are opening the internet to other countries so that they can communicate with other people or their family members. They have offered translation options for the people that doesn’t understand English to help them out getting through the online service. The government should offer these kind of offer to those countries so that everyone is familiar with the internet and not having to go someone to a close access to wifi. I believe this move will help the economy and help the people gain access to the internet either through their cell phone or desktop providers. And hopefully at a affordable price so that everyone could have this advantage and have the privilege in access the internet.
Beyond The search Engine
Before last semester, i would use google to find everything research i would need for my research papers or answer i would need. I found out there’s more search engines that can get you more information for researches. Some of the good search engines are at the libraries or school libraries. Also to add to that, I didn’t know words like “AND,OR,NOT” can help people find what they are searching rather than just searching for the topic by itself and not being specific. Search engines records what people have searched for and what is common searched by people. It is amazing how the search engines are aware of what people might be searching for.
Metadata (their data)
It’s incredible how the things we post, do search for and etc. are surveillance by the FBI, NSA and etc. It’s seem we have no privacy and can be snooped on whenever. the metadata is taking over and is becoming an somewhat hacking device for the government to keep an eye on us when our rights are not suppose to be voilated. Based on the article I read about graphs shown by MIT students. On another subject people are constantly creating tags and making it easier to search certain things based on what they are tagging. In the article folksonomy they examines how tags are being created faster than the bots itself that create the tags. People tag images, places, feelings, and etc. and becoming a huge topic where companies invest in theses type of things for their own companies. And it explains how people have control of the creating metadata of tags for their vocabulary. They believe that searching will never be the same because of tags that are being created but I don’t agree. I believe that it’ll be easier and more convient for people if they feel comfortable searching that way.
Open to the Public!
The internet should be open to the public and it’s information should be legal to access. “The internet provides amazing opportunities to open more access to knowledge” this is what Aaron Swartz wanted for the public and was charged with felonies charges before he commited suicide. The public is forced to pay twice for researches that should be open to the public. In the article, they explains that the authors doesn’t receive the fees that are charged and the agentcies or journals keep the fee so why is it that we’re paying for something that isn’t there’s or the creator charging us for? The internet is for public knowledge and should be easy to access not a hassle to get. It’s be open to the people, for the people and by the people quoted from Abraham Lincoln.
Not Original!
Copying other people’s work doesn’t make it yours and doesn’t help ones ideas of creating something new and creative. There have been tons of plagiarism that played a role in college. For those actions, the students involved have been expelled and not allowed to have a chance to go to school anymore. I believe people and students should stick to their own ideas and come up with their own creative thinking instead of googling things or copying other peoples work. I believe that the internet has had a big impact on plagiarism and because of it, it has been happening a lot. It is easy for people to google something and just copying it and posting it where ever they feel like it or using it as their own work. An example is spark notes, people go to spark notes and just get their work for there and say it’s their own when it’s not. How is that people just have the nerves to just claim something that isn’t their own and their own original creation? If there wasn’t internet I think there wouldn’t be as much plagiarism but because there is internet that still doesn’t give the people the right to plagiarism.
