Disney Programs: Event Planning & Operations Learning Panel

Disney Dorms: Event Planning Panel

Upon entering the classroom, we were introduced to five cast members who were all part of Disney’s event planning team. Some of them even work on creating cool meet-and-greet events to introduce new rides or food to the parks. The Disney event planning team is responsible for organizing extended hours for the park, whether due to a buyout or vacation club members. Although some things may seem impossible, Disney has a team for everything. These five cast members come from different backgrounds and career paths, with some not even starting their careers at Disney. However, they all decided to excel further in their careers within the company. They are responsible for making quick and thorough decisions when things don’t go according to plan, but they also monitor events that are running smoothly on a calmer level. They advised us that sometimes things don’t always go as planned, but it is their responsibility to create a magical experience for all guests, regardless of their disposition. They enjoy their job because it allows them to use their creativity, whether it’s a big or small-budget event. They strive to bring magic to everyone who visits the park.

I think what they mentioned is the foundation of events, things will not always proceed as planned yet it is the planners job to ensure the guests are satisfied (if not elated) due to the event. Effective planners will have years of experience in order to reduce the unexpected challenges, that is why it is important for people new to the industry to work with a seasoned planner before branching out on their own.
