Assignment summary of Ripe Figs

In the essay, “Ripe Figs”, by Kate Chopin, the main theme addressed is the relationship between Maman-Nainaine and Babette. It compares the impatience of the youth with the patience of the older people. Chopin also shows a comparison between time and nature. She also addresses the struggle against time. Time always seems to take longer when waiting for something interesting to happen such as figs in this essay.
