Final Evaluation

Digital Photography has always thought was interesting and cool but it was something ive known little to nothing about  had no experience with at all. I’ve just always been a fan of pictures that look cool and entertaining to me. With this course i was able to learn about the art of photography, And how powerful pictures can be. I learned to be able to view things from a newer and different perspective which is something i’ll continue to do from now on. What i learned to love about photography is how there’s always more then meets the eye when taking a picture or viewing an image. Because of this i can definitely understand the saying “A picture is worth 1000 words”. This is a course that ive enjoyed the most and was the most interested in now, and i look forward to learning alot more about digital photography in the future.

Final Evaluation – Joanna Motyl

I have learned a lot in this class, for sure how to take pictures better. Before I would just point and shoot and now I look whats in the picture, as for the background and other objects in the
photograph. I have also learned about the main focus on the picture, how it should look and for it not to be to much. Also the negative space in pictures that it makes photos look interesting and good. But I have also learned a lot from our class works, about the motion in the photographs and portraits, and how to make an object fit in the image. This course will help me in my career development because when I will be creating an design I know more about photographs and how its supposed to look good to make a great design. To improve this course it could be maybe also some pictures in the dark, like all our homeworks were during day light and I think it could have been interesting if they were done at evening-night time. Otherwise, this was a great class.

Learning Log Final Project

Today in class we were looking at our photos and realized that all my photo are either blurry, too dark, or the white balance is extremely off. My partner suggested that I should use a tripod so the picture won’t be as blurry. I should take it during the daytime so there will be more sun so my picture won’t look as dark and lastly to always check my white balance before taking the photo. For next week I will try to get more depth of field and shallow depth of field for more interesting effects.

Learning Log – Final Project

My partner commented that when you zoom in very close, the focus is nice and it doesn’t look like its a fallen tree on a sidewalk.

For next week, I wanted to go to Manhattan to take my pictures, I don’t know the name of the street or what its called, but I wanted to take pictures of those three big red balls that are on water. They could make an interesting images and different. It would be from different angels, closer and farther away, which would make the image look different.

Few pictures  look dark  .  I need to have more contrast between awful and great pictures for next class. My next location will be the Central park. Hope the weather will be nice and I can take interesting pictures.

Suggestions

My partner recommended I include more angle shots of several items/people. For my next location i’ll try to pick a place were i can get a lot of portrait shots, mostly because i have to work with the 35mm lens. At the moment I do however plan on going to the Bronx Zoo, or maybe MOMA.

Learning Log: Final Project

Working with Regina, we took a look at some of the pictures we took.
She particularly liked the one with the oranges, with its colorful contrast from the drab gray behind it.

I’ve been meaning to work with the theme of bifurcation, and I’ll make use of this type of contrast in order to invoke a feeling of ‘hope’ or a ‘light after the tunnel’ kind of thing.

Learning Log Painting with light

I actually like this a lot because the lighting is great and this is a great sense of humor with Joseph making a “fireball”. The contrast is nice and it is very in focus.

Learning Log 7: Painting With Light

Out of all the pictures taken i feel that this photo is the strongest and most effective image. This image was able to capture a great use of painting light with a very abstract light painting that looks a bit three dimensional and as if it is wapping around itself. Also i think that the lighting for the photo works with the abstract painting as well. The way half of her body was lit up while the other half fades to black, can make it look like the painting is the source of light in this photo

This is my favorite picture mainly because I directed this picture in its entirety. It almost looks like a 3D comic image which actually wasn’t my intention so it was a nice surprise. I was dancing gangnam style just for the hell of it.  I like how my shirt was green and then the overall color of me in other shots complemented the initial flash shot.
