Yes! Indeed, it’s important to have a multimodal component in writing classes. As anyone can see, our generation and era are progressing towards fast technology and innovations. Nowadays, something so tedious as research can be done in about half an hour because of our access to databases and articles online. With most of our lives dependent on technology and software, it’s a no-brainer that it’s important to have a multimodal component in writing classes. This is what we NEED the most practice with. Multimodal compositions ARE what will reach a bulk of your target audience. I am pretty sure most of us can agree that most of our “news” and information we access is through television, conversations, and our phones, rather than a newspaper.

To me, “multimodality” is the most effective use of modes of communication. This can be different depending on the type of information. In my case, using linguistic, aural, and visual can be used to maximize the significance of the message.

For my plans for Unit 3 (Due Day 1 Week 15), I am thinking of composing a video essay or a Ted Talk. This may be the most effective genre because it will help the audience to visualize and better comprehend the complex information. I’ll be studying these methods from mentor texts to see which one will help the most.
