Instragram: Most popular photo-trend

About 2 months ago, I started seeing more and more beautiful photos with all kind of effects and contrast on my friends’ facebook posts that appeared on my new-feeds. At first, I inferred that they were using photoshop or a kind of photo editing program like window media editor etc, but I was completely wrong. My friends were using this camera apps and social network called Instagram which allows them to snap a photo from the camera of their phones, edit immediately by adding or deducting effects, lighting, contrast, and whatever the users want or need in order to create the look and feeling they want to project on people when they look at their photos. After transforming the photos, users can share them with the public, friends and family in any social network, such as, Facebook, Twitter etc.

This camera application is becoming popular because it is capable of adding a dynamic look on boring original photos, people love the idea of sharing their precious moments with the world and it is quick and easy to use. However, what I dislike about this social network and apps is the idea that some people are considering themselves professional photographers because of the amount of ā€œlikeā€ they get from users on their photos. The reality is that Instagram makes photos interesting, but cannot make them into master pieces and work of arts.

there has been a lot of hype around this new app. I personally like it because it creates cool effects and makes photos prettier than what they originally look. I agree that facebook and twitter have taken control over this application and the consumers believe that they are becoming real photographers. People “like” the photos which make them more and more popular and before you know it random people like your photo.

Instragram is a great app indeedā€¦it offers many ways to post up pictures of whatever a person wants viewers to seeā€¦as you said taking a ordinary photo and making it more appealingā€¦its amazing to see how many people has this app and share photo of what they come across or simply pictures of themselvesā€¦Instragram is the new face book although facebook bought over this appā€¦more and more people are catching the craveā€¦Itā€™s a picture away seeing into people lives of what they want people to seeā€¦

  3. I’ve never used the Instagram application. I heard from friends a few months ago that it was taking over as the new social media–like a Facebook but with pictures. Actually, Facebook has purchased Instagram (for a whopping $1Billion!!!), and all photo rights are signed over to Facebook once you open an account–just like Facebook’s rules.

I have recently thought of copying my older pics on my Facebook profile and deleting from my account altogether–maybe just leaving up a few photos for the world to see (and for Facebook to own!). I want to own the rights to my own photos, and not have a social media company access (and final say) to what I do with the pictures on my account.

I know the filters provided by the app make for cool pictures, so if you are going to have an account, be sure it’s a photo you don’t mind giving up.

  4. I just recently use Instragram. I do agree they provide nice effects to the photograph. It is awesome! I take the picture and share it right away from my phone. It tell others the moment, mood and atmosphere I am in when I upload it.

  5. The Instragram is a rather impressive tool as far as editing features go. It is also very appealing because it makes those who are not necessarily great with a camera feel better about their images and it can very likely drive them to become better photographers. However no amount of graphic effects can rescue a bad image, as I saw from a few images on the link in the post.

Anyone can learn a program. It’s the talent of the individual that matters and if the person is taking lousy images then even after all the bells and whistles the image will still be lackluster. However most people do not care for improvement as long as they can pull in enough attention. I have seen it before and like/dislike systems often result in amateur individuals believing they are at or near an advanced level. This seems especially true in art related work and is an unfortunate result of the system.

This shouldn’t stop those who enjoy Instragram from having fun and using it on their works. It can be used to make an already good picture even better or more interesting. If anything is going divert you from Instragram it most likely would be the point that ‘carlossantiago’ makes two posts above me. I am not fond of a social media company having rights to my images.

Instragram becomes one of the most used pictures sharing apps amount smartphones users, Some people might just like pictures effects or just to browse pictures based on hash tags search, i find it very interesting not because i can do pictures effects, but to browse picture and share my pictures with friends. and yes you are welcome to view my pictures, i bet you will love them, mhsoofi_ny šŸ™‚

Instagram. . . eh. Could really care less.
One could argue that the app is killing photography the way digital is killing print. However, I feel like this surge in burgeoning “photographers” is only going to show who the real photographers are and who’s just taking a MySpace-bathroom-duckface pic.

Well, as an adoring app user for over 5 months now, I consider taking photos as if I were a “Professional Photographer” it is a very gratyfing experience, INDEED!. Whipping out my Camera (I-phone) for whatever catches my eye or anything that itches my stomach for what I believe has potential “creating nothing into something”. Of course, I have my own set of opinions on how far a user can go when they post “time consuming ” pictures, but I would rather not enclose that in favor of good faith. Family and friends have even created a nickname “Mr.Insta” because of how random and often I take out my phone to catching that picture perfect moment. Instagram is a users gallery, exhbiting their latest encounters. As for me I post what I believe are percuptual statments of what resemble me, or in other words, life through my eyes. I fancy the fine arts. Yes, its kind of a broad idea but something in any shape or form of art I enjoy. So whether what I believe is artful in terms of food, art, musical encounters, skateboarding, rare vehicles, what I believe is blissful (in terms of how a building cuts out the blue sky in the city while the sunsets) FUNNYS and straight up Peculiar yet enticing pictures. It is literally like having my own art gallery in the palm of my hands to share with the world. I enjoy and appreaciate the comments and “likes” that known or random users give, as well. It pushes me to continue and further myself not as a person but as an artists per se. Follow me and you will not be disappointed *and I’ll follow you back šŸ˜‰ * Le_Cou

Not an Instragram user but it seems everyone I know is using this app. I like the filters that give the pictures a lomography look, but its something that a smartphone should already be able to do by now. The sharing of pictures is what makes this app popular and one of the fastest growing user base. Not sure why Facebook paid a BILLION dollars for it when they could have developed something similar for a lot less.

Actually I never knew about instragram until my friend thomas spoke to me about it I was not quite so sure what it was but after I found out it seems interesting I guess I have to go find out about it. I can’t wait to get it on my i- pad to start playing around with the pictures . it’s popularity is really growing and now more and more face book followers are using it to upload their most recent photos. these program reminds me of photoshop and all those programs that are out that can do almost the same thing. Its a good thing that instragram is free and affordable. well see ya I am about to load start taking pictures I will post one up later.

    This is my post!

  11. I think the Instagram application really gives a whole different look to pictures. It makes them look more vivid. It would be great if in the Instagram blog they put the original image besides the Instagram picture, so that we can better compare the effect. Recently I had seen more and more Instagram pictures in the social sites, but I didnā€™t know this kind of pictures with that colorful effect had a specific name. It is really interesting to see how color tone can change the mood in a picture and sometimes the meaning too. However, Instagram helps with the adjustment of color, but it doesnā€™t help with the focus of a picture. If you donā€™t have a good picture, it wonā€™t matter how long you take fixing the color. It will still look awkward. For a picture to look good, it should be well taken since the beginning because no application will make you look good if the picture is not good.

I like Instagram. I think it is a cool way of making photographs very interested and appealing to the eyes. When I first found out about it, I wondered if they had like a software version of it that will make big images look cool as well without having to use Photoshop. Well I came across this cool software for both Windows/Mac called Toycamera Analogcolor. Great software and has much more effects and custom settings to quickly apply very cool effects to your photographs easily. Follow the link below for more info.
