Hellman, “ In Defense of Classroom”

One of the main points that I got from this is that an environment of in-person classes like inside the classroom can provide much better support than online classes. When you are in a classroom, you get to know all different types of people that are also willing to help each other out and put the work in to help get through the course. You get a better understanding of the teacher and how the course is actually is. And also, being in a classroom can help you build a mindset of wanting to get things done while online learning can help ruin that. With online learning, you don’t really get a chance to get to know everybody else in the class which also makes it harder to help work with each other and it can make a person less willing on getting through the course especially if you don’t really have a professor for class hours and your just in it by yourself even though you can contact your professor for support.

One way I would say to build a community online is to try to get to know each other and help each other out. Let the students talk to each other and let them feel comfortable with their peers (as well as the professor). Also helping each other can lead to better things as well as building/bettering a relationship.
