In the congressman’s John Lewis Speech and article, it spoke about what’s going on around the country at this moment. He also spoke about the various changes the country has made since he was younger with the help of himself, among others. He expressed how we as a community should fight for injustice. He mentioned a philosophy he goes by “ If it’s not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to say something do something you cannot afford to be quiet” By speaking up and getting into something he calls good trouble is the only way things will change. The way he speaks about good trouble is “ Get in trouble and turn our world and our country upside down to set it right side up.” It’s the definition of fighting for everything that is wrong with this country ever injustice, ever atrocity that we’ve seen this year alone, ever abuse of power that must stop. My good trouble would be speaking up to be able reform the conditions of facilities where they detain immigrants. I’m hoping to shed light on how inhumane and traumatic family separation is due to being an immigrant, for all parties but most of all for the children involved. I want to try and fight for immigration reform — create a path for citizenship for people already here, update the visa system.
