Weekly Journal #8

Week 8 has been great! I finally got a few more “runner” shifts… which I was nervous about, but glad I had them.  I haven’t done any “running” since my training weeks ago, so I forgot a few things, but it wasn’t too bad.  Luckily there was always another castmember there to assist me if I had any questions.

This week I had a really sweet guest that stopped by the front desk every night, just say Hi and stop for a quick chat.  She would tell me about her day, show me pictures of her kids meeting their favorite characters, and ask to look at our pin board.  This guest truly touched my heart.  I loved seeing her come into the lobby at night with a big smile on her face ready to tell me about her amazing day at the parks.  On the last day, she send a long letter to the GM of my resort about me.  I wasn’t looking for any recognition, but after reading what she said it felt great! We had a real connection and I miss her dearly.  I hope her family got back to Chicago safely!

Besides working, I also made time to go the waterparks for little while it is still super warm out!  I went to Typhoon Lagoon.  There are two waterparks on Disney property: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.  They are both open during the summer, but from fall to spring only one waterpark is open at a time so they the other can go down for refurbishment for the season. Typhoon Lagoon was so fun! I love it there.  It’s never too busy, and there is always more than enough chairs, so I never feel like I’m sitting right on top of strangers.

All in all, week 8 has been great! Looking forward to week 9!
