The first theme park I visited when I got down to Orlando, surprisingly was not Disney. To ensure I got the most bang out of my buck, the first off day I had with my roommates was spent trekking around Universal Studios: the competition. Becoming the Annual Pass holder of Universal came with a free Haunted Horror Nights and the Premier package had the addition of closer parking and a time allotted fast pass. Though I possibly lived off cup noodles for the next two weeks, the experience itself was worth it! I was never a Disney child growing up with the exception of the Disney Channel and the well known Disney movies; Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and many others. I had never wanted to be someone’s prince charming or a daring thief like Aladdin, but give me an owl and send me to Hogwarts, that was my dream. I loved everything at Universal because as a young male growing up, these were the movies and shows I enjoyed. From the Simpson rides to the Hogwarts train taking you between the two parks, it was like a dream come true. Did I feel guilty cheating on Mickey that day? Absolutely, but I think it’s always better to keep work and enjoyment separate, because maybe one day you’ll end up hating what you used to love.
