Brief Overview
When it comes to the album covers of this generation, I don’t get the same feeling
from album art in the 70s to 90s. Now this could be because of the nostalgia
attached to these albums, but I feel album art has become less of a priority to some artists. Now this is not to say that all new album covers are bad but some are just lazy. One album cover from the 70s that I can appreciate the quality of is Boston’s self-titled album designed by Paula Scher.
Really nice video! I especially like the connection you make between the decline of conceptual album art and the rise of digital media and your conversational approach in presenting that. It would be interesting to hear you go even more in depth about why those things are connected besides just the lack of a physical product but also how we browse for music now. Do we have as much choice or is it just the algorithm bringing us things (a.k.a does audience agency play into the decline of good album art)? This was a super interesting topic and I think you did a great job presenting it!
