About Me:

I have a very strong background in magazine development and pre-production work (Photoshop touch ups). I understanding close to all of the Adobe Creative Suite programs. I hope to work in a large fashion magazine house doing exactly what I love to do: edit photos and magazine column organizing. I would like to come in at a designer or artist position and eventually build up to an art director. I love New York for the financial/corporate aspect of it, and that’s the type of environment I hope to work in.

I can easily say that after looking through multiple sites and job descriptions, I had a completely different expectation. I can say this with both good and bad feeling. One of my personal fears in life was that when I graduated with a degree, it would be nearly impossible to find a career related job. Literally, this is a life long fear. But there are jobs out there related to my career. While searching for jobs I realized that there are jobs in my field. Not necessarily in magazine development, but definitely in the Advertisement Design field overall. The one concern I do have though, a lot of the jobs I found were for senior positions, not entry or regular positions. Of course with senior positions means a large amount of time and experience in the field, which as a college graduate, I don’t necessarily have. Sure, one day I would love to be a senior project manager or senior art director, but it would be something I work up to. I don’t even think I would want the position even if it was offered to me, simply I’m not the type of person to jump into something I know I don’t have experience with. That part of the job search does concern me. Another concern came with the entry or regular entry jobs that I was able to find. Like I mentioned earlier, the jobs were not necessarily in the magazine development area, where I would like to ideally be. But, more importantly, all of the jobs were in the online web advertising, or marketing. In today’s day and age, I get it. Digital and web plays a huge role in advertising. But, print is still a massive part of it. Until this day, companies pay a humongous amount of money for print ad’s over online marketing/ads. That is exactly where I want to be, with print ads. I personally HATE any sort of web design work. So again, I expected far worse before this mini job search. I was expecting to find little to nothing to be honest. It’s great to see that there are jobs out there.
