After experimenting with the color roughs, I decided to stay with a limited color palette to help with the illustration. The colors I used are Copper, Brown, Dark Brown, White and Black. I believe they help with illustration because they make the human and dog appear real and not make the art overpowering. The Dark Brown and Black colors help with the values because they create a shadow on both the skin, and fur. The colors fill the composition greatly and help keep the eye in the center. The eye in the center helps make the heart the focal point because when you notice it, you wonder why it is there. Overall, I think the illustration came out great and hope it helps represent the article.
