I have consistently performed far above both the Departmental and the College-wide average scores in student evaluations of teaching. However, of more significance and deeper personal meaning is the depth of relationships I have built and maintained with our COMD alumni. Below are letters of support I’ve received from COMD graduates.
Letters of Support
“Have you ever met someone who struck a cord of inspiration so deep that you felt like you just had to talk to them? Just had to engage with them and learn what it is about that person that made them who they were, so you could have a bit of that magic in your own life? I had my first class with Sara Woolley when I was a sophomore at City Tech. Everything from her energy to the way that she spoke made it clear that she was extremely knowledgeable about her work and her industry. She engaged with students as if they were already professionals in the field, not children who needed to be babied, but as adults who simply needed a guide and a test of our limits. And test us she did.”

“There are few mentors that fervently support their students throughout their college ups and downs. There are even fewer who would go so far as to champion their students beyond the classroom. Professor Woolley has provided each and every one of her students the resources and opportunities to launch their art careers. The MoCCA Fest, SOI marketplace, and Highlights Foundation are just some of what Professor Woolley has made possible, and accessible, for her students and alumni.”

“There was a point in my college career when I was considering dropping out. It was the beginning of my third year, I couldn’t see any of my accomplishments and was relentlessly self-critical of
my ability.Professor Woolley took notice and made the time to meet with me. She encouraged me to keep on route and not quit on myself. She assured me that the Communication Design staff had noticed my ability and they believed in me. Having an educator who cared as much as Professor Woolley during that dark time in my life was no small feat. I went on to graduate with a 3.8 GPA in 2020 and was an illustration senior project finalist.”

“Apart from benefiting from her teaching, I was mentored by her during the Undergraduate Research Program and Senior Project. Under her guidance, illustration was integrated into a complex STEM research project, fostering teamwork among COMD students and faculty. Additionally she provided invaluable insights and management advice while aiding my senior project, generously sharing her prior works to learn from, including “Wonder Woman, Warbringer: The Graphic Novel.”
