Faculty Commons considered this to be a model program for an NEH Grant Proposal. The project was unfortunately not funded. But, the model for this work-readiness student/faculty research program remains sound.

Description:

The methodology of the program model, pairs student designers with a researcher in the role of client and communication design faculty as creative director, is specifically chosen to facilitate collaboration and to reflect a real-world work experience for the student design team. As part of this method, student illustrators meet with the creative director and the client initially to assess the project scope and analyze the client’s needs before students propose their own creative solution and project management timeline.

Strategy

• Pair Faculty Scholars (Clients) with COMD Students (Designers).
• Art Direction by COMD Professor.
• Develop engaging visual content to disseminate research findings better or change minds through visual media.
