In my opinion, I thought the rubric was a helpful tool to guide us through what the professor was looking for in our presentations. The only real problem I had with the rubric was that on the first day, I did not have a chance to read through it clearly word for word and analyze it. It is appropriate to use a rubric for any presentation in my opinion, It gives us/me some type of guide to rate our fellow students and ourselves and it was really easy to understand how to get a good grade. As mentioned earlier, when it comes to rubrics, I feel a little time in advance is needed to be able to really take in all the information and realize what is being asked. In future projects that topics won’t vary much, but I’d like to see the rubric be a bit more specific on what the goals are, this was one of those projects where we did have so many different topics so I do understand this rubric had to be broad. If given beforehand, I always look over the rubric after preparing to make sure I hit all aspects in the “4’s” column and if not, I usually edit my project.

The forum on the other hand was a very fast and efficient. I do like that it was a very quick way to evaluate and give feedback, the only thing I’d change is that I’d ask specific questions rather than just insert a comment section. It was hard to explain what my brain was thinking in a comments section with time ticking and other students talking in the background. I had thought of some things to say after I had pressed submit. If a question were there with an open comment section, I may have been able to remember.

The rubric was good and also clear to understand during the presentation. The one problem that I had with the rubric is that what if a student presentation was in the middle of two numbers for example 3 or 4 then how would I be able to put the grade in for the students? I was wondering that during the presentations when reading and looking at the rubric paper. The other form that we used for the students presentation was easy to open and use because the form was easy to find on openlab and also easy to fill out information for the student’s presentation. I don’t think that this form needs any changes because everything is straight forward and easy to plug into the form.

Yes, the Rubric was appropriate for the presentation; it contents the most basic important points that a speaker needs to consider for a presentation. In fact it is short and easy to apply. Unfortunately, I did not know if there were a rubric that we could use to structure our presentation. After reviewing the comments that the students made on my presentation and comparing them to the rubric; I realized that I could do better if I were aware of it.

I do not think there is anything that needs to change or add, but the presenter needs to embrace the entire points of the rubric in order to have a better presentation. I did not consider the rubric when I was preparing my presentation; however, I accentuated on the 5 Ws to excel the standard of my presentation. One important thing that I consider is eloquentness because when the audience understands the speaker, the message goes smoothly, which shows that the speaker has knowledge of the topic.

There was nothing on the rubric that surprised me; however,  I was surprised to see that there was something that could help me prepare my presentation in order to have a better grade. I never had a rubric before from a teacher; however, they always said what they wanted to see in a presentation; such as, how the speaker should behave during the presentation. The form was short, simple and easy to use. Without it I don’t know how long will it take me to comment in one presentation because I would not know what to comment on. Overall, the rubric and the form are both useful.

Personally I didn’t use the rubric for my presentation. This was actually my first time looking at the rubric. Overall I thought the rubric was very easy to understand and it set clear standards.  For me, I don’t like using rubric even though I hear it’s a good tool. I’ve had teachers used rubrics with me before but I don’t like using them. I feel like it puts a bit more pressure on me to get my work, presentation in this case, to be perfect.  With this rubric it wasn’t as “picky” as other rubrics I’ve seen in the past. Which to me personally is okay. I also thought did rubric was appropriate for this presentation. As well as for our future presentations.

The form we used to submit feedback to our classmates was actually really entertaining. I actually thought that this was a good idea. It kept me focused on the presentations and I felt like I was actually being useful rather than just being an audience for the presenter.

I believe this rubric was appropriate for the presentations and for further use. The rubric cloven our interdisciplinary skills of mathematical knowledge, use of technology and pedagogy which, allows us to clearly specify the needs for improvement based on students and professors ratings. My only concern is as we progress through the course can we define ourselves using the same rubric? Do we need to modify it to fit the needs of our growing technology based activities? The rubric was fairly simple to use. All one needed to do was assess a student’s levels such as unsatisfactory, basic etc. The rubric enumerates the fundamental to the credible work in details. I felt confident assigning students’ scores because of how simple it was to tell the difference between levels. If I was to change anything about this rubric for a presentation I would only further specify details that I felt can be articulated. While presenting my own work I did not take use of the rubric. I based my project on what I felt the student’s needed to understand in order to understand my lesson. This did not surprise me but, I am content that it is on the rubric, presentation structure. My former educators have used rubrics before and it assisted me in selecting positive presentation skills and skills in need of improvement. The form again was another simple tool select a button provide extra feedback the end. I would not alter the form I would accumulate each students scores and provide a graph of their progress .

I believe that the rubric was a fine guide for us to determine the grades for our classmates. Still, I felt funny grading some of our classmates on topics I have never seen before because I was not sure if their presentation was good or not being that I had no previous experience in the topic so my scores reflected that. Some of the students I felt knew what they were talking about, even though, their presentation could have been clearer, such as, the clarity of  their speech – for some I could not understand them or they were using the wrong words to explain their topic or present their work on the slides. Although, they knew how to use desmos and technology better than me. I think writing and English skills should be of more importance when teaching all subjects in the classroom, and that goes for me as well. These skills can be a serious barrier between students and teachers that must be improved, because the teacher may have a brilliant mind but it has to come through when they are teaching. So I believe column 4 which uses the word eloquently should be used when determining all aspects of a presentation because it is very important to be clear. I hope I don’t sound too judgemental but this is also something that I am working on. Also, I like the feedback I got from my classmates because I did not realize that my back was facing them the majority of the time, so I appreciate their honesty and I will use their constructive criticism ion order to improve on my presentations.
