Reflecting on the letter that I wrote for my discourse community, I found it much easier for me to write a letter instead of a speech. A letter was more straightforward because I felt like I could connect with the targetted audience better. I was able to express precisely how much I enjoy my discourse community which can also be a way to persuade readers to cook more often. Wollstonecraft’s letter helped me pick my choice of a letter because of the way she was able to express perfectly to the targetted audience. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed writing this letter because I got to write about one of my favorite hobbies and skills. Cooking brings me lots of joy, so writing about it in one of my college classes was enjoyable. I see myself using the skills for the letter I’ve written for any future letters or persuasive pieces that I may have to write.

Class Meetings & Times: in person Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 – 5:15 PM in Namm 403
Office Hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12 – 1:30 PM. I’ll be available through Zoom and will send an invitation via email that you should keep all semester. Try to join my meeting at the start of the hour, not at the end—since I may be talking to other students or have another appointment after the hour is up. If those times don’t work with your schedule, we can schedule a different time. This means you’ll have to schedule an appointment in advance via email. I suggest you have multiple times in mind, since your schedule may not mesh with mine!
