Compositional elements can come together in a decisive moment to hold a story in a frame. The elements can balance a picture to tell a story, and this story could convey certain emotions to the watcher of a picture. Bresson speaks about how the best way to take these pictures is to not think and just take the picture with instinct because he says “ immediate sketch. Done with intuition and you can’t correct it if you have to correct it. It’s next picture”. This shows that Bresson likes to spontaneously take pictures instead of planning them out.
