A Memory Keeper of a Man You Used to Be

The warm embrace cradled her body

to the steady tempo of the sunrise

Never a struggle,

not a single beat skipped

it seemed to come so natural to you

Clenching tighter and tighter

Without suffocation, just a confinement of warmth and tenderness

The numbing breeze lurks

But you served as the shield,

deflecting every discomfort and stares that evoked fear troubling her mind

The smell of cooper filled with metallic reassurance

You left her alone that morning for work

not to linger through foreign neighborhoods

that reminded you of someone who ignites your burning desires.
