Week 3 purpose and roles of journalism

While journalism has it’s many purposes, one clear purpose would be to inform people so a “good” decision could be eventually made. This is the examples in the article:https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/27/nyregion/cuomo-charlotte-bennett-sexual-harassment.html.We can see the purpose being shown since we are informed of the case/blame that govern Andrew Cuomo has. This kind of case and blame definitely isn’t the first one at all but it is definitely a case that leads to a decision eventually.Being accused of rape isn’t by any means good what so ever but the main issue here would indeed be possibility of a future impeachment of the governor. This article informs us citizens of the issue that the governor is involved in.The people of New York would rather have a governor that isn’t considered a rapist rather than one that is.The information given leads to a idea that would  influence our decision making about this topic. The topic in which this case would be the impeachment. When we talk about the purposes of journalism we mention the purposes, but being able to see the purposes is something completely different.Overall the journalism that we have would always try to be beneficial for the citizens of their nations and states.

Article Response

After reading 2 articles plus an interview, on 2 different topics I was given a sense of urgency on a crisis, and a success story. In “Taliban Take Over in Afghanistan,” I was exposed to the dire situation of freedom loving people in the media in Afghanistan. In “Ebony Returns to A Chronical New Moment” I was treated to reading amount a media comeback story. While one story talks about the revival of a media outlet, the other unfortunately talks about the fading of another. When I digest these concepts I can see just how lucky we are to be in a free media society while Tolo and her media outlet have moved underground and face the imminent threat of suppression or death. All of us are allowed to at least attend online school and post freely on social media or on the website, while others do so anonymously. Overall i get a bittersweet feeling after reading the 3 articles.

First Asssignment

In ” Can Afghan’s Leading Broadcaster Survive The Taliban” was interesting article that the Taliban is attacking journalist if they report a headline against the Taliban. The Taliban is making the society and journalist’s life at risk. The Taliban were not taught to respect women and they are totally against women rights. That is the reason why Afghan people left Afghanistan permanently. In “Did I Really Just Buy Ebony” by Avis Weathersbee makes a phenomenal interview essays. The way she wrote the interview essays that has to do with about African American celebrities and world famous leaders. The moral lesson that the author is trying to give is that everybody has the right to speak up, freedom of speech, and everybody’s voice should be heard in order to serve justice.
