Bio

After 40 plus years in education, what drives me is the evidence that learners who are successful take responsibility for their own education, they practice and question, and when they are supported and guided, they solve problems with peers. They find that team work is a challenging process. And that the more clearly they understand and strive to exceed expectations, the more confident they become as learners. The fun is getting us all to believe that we have the techniques to continuously evolve into more successful learners.

The Art of Vegetarian Cuisine

Vegetarian cuisine focusing on culinary and dessert preparations utilizing grains, beans, plant proteins, vegetables, and dairy. Through classical and contemporary cooking techniques and styles, meal preparations will concentrate on balanced menus using plant-based ingredients that fit into three classifications: vegan, lacto and lacto-ovo vegetarian diets

ENG 092R is the upper-level course in reading and critical thinking skills focusing on improving reading comprehension to meet the demands of college level reading requirements. We will be reviewing vocabulary in context, main ideas, supporting details, various patterns of organization, making logical inferences, demonstrating reading comprehension in writing, and drawing reasonable conclusions. We will also work on effective strategies for approaching readings from across the curriculum, assignments, and other helpful study skills. In this Fall 2014 Course, we will be approaching the above through partnership in a Learning Community with Professor Mundeke in the African American Studies Department. Hence, we will explore vocabulary development, identification of context clues, develop critical thinking skills and extracting main ideas (stated and implied) as well inferred meaning from critical reading and analysis of stories with such themes as gender inequality, social acceptance, social justice, crime and punishment, moral lessons, cultural bias and societal values contained in African Folklore..

This site serves as a primary hub of information and resources for participants of the City Tech Living Lab General Education Seminar beginning in Spring 2019. General Education is a critical component of City Tech’s curriculum. This seminar provides support and training to full-time and part-time faculty seeking to enhance their integration of Gen Ed learning objectives into their assignments and courses. Thomas Ahrens International Work/Study Programsā€”-Paris

Selected Hospitality Management students take part in an exchange program with students from Universite d’Evry during the month of June. This project presents first hand, the business of tourism, hotel management, cuisine and culture to our hospitality students at City Tech. During these 3 weeks our students are based in Paris and have had visits and conferences that included the Hotel de Ville, Rungis Market, Hotel George V, Patisserie Lenotre, Moet et Chandon in Champagne, Restaurant Le Grand Colbert, La Coupole and Le Vefour. Culture is investigated through the everyday experiences of living in Paris. Cuisine is formerly practiced in several culinary schools and informally experienced through day to day market shopping, tastings and restaurant dining. Each year students work on various walking tour assignments and have presented historic and cultural tours of various sites in Paris.

The Computer Systems Technology (CST) Colloquium is dedicated to providing the students, staff, and faculty of New York City College of Technology, the City University of New York, and the greater public with access to information regarding the latest developments in computing from both a research and industrial perspective. We strive to schedule speakers that have a prominent influence in the computing field and that can engage our audience to have a deeper understanding and passion for computers, software engineering, programming languages, networks, and other topics.

This is a private group for new hires participating in the New Faculty Seminar series for the 2014-2015 academic year. The members of the group are composed of the seminar leaders as well as the faculty. Spoons Across America Club is dedicated to helping spread culinary knowledge. Spreading that knowledge to our friends, families, students and children. We want to continue Spoons Across Americas mission of influencing healthy eating habits for children. Celebrating the connection to local farmers and the important tradition of sharing meals around the family table. Helping spread that mission we focus on fundraising and providing Volunteers for the Non-Profit organization to support our mission.
