Learning Log #12- PSA

Doing this PSA was pretty tricky because of how much I struggled with trying to figure out how my PSA was going to look. My PSA is about how we should all stop being way too focused on our phones/technology and be able to enjoy our time with people around us as well as our loved ones. I wanted to show how social media and phones have taken over our lives and how we basically just stop talking to people.

Final Project Idea

My final project is going to be based on jack and the beanstalk. I will take photos of when jacks mother tells him to sell his lizard/snake for money for food. Then I will take photos of when the old man is telling jack about the magic beans. After, I will take a close up shot of jack holding the beans in his hand to show that he sold the animal for them. As well as other photos I will take when jack plants the seed and the beanstalk grows and grows.

Learning Log #10 Advertisement

My idea was to photograph a concealer and make the advertisement all based on the concealer I had. I wanted a mirror effect because I thought it would look nice since its a beauty product and most beauty products usually have that mirrored look which I really enjoy. I wanted to show someone opening the concealer which I thought would add on to the look and make it interesting as an ad. Overall I really like these 2 photos because of how they both are mirrored and both have different concepts to it.

Learning Log #9- Light Painting

Todays assignment was really fun and i really enjoyed it because of the different and creative ways we can use light to create an interesting image. Some struggles we faced while doing these photos were that we couldn’t get the lighting correct in some instances but we later fixed that with brightening the speed light to make the photo brighter and better. Overall painting with light has to be one of my favorite things because it makes images super interesting and fun to look at.

Learning Log #8 Portrait Lighting 2

3 point with hair light

3 point with background light

Butterfly/Clamshell

Edge Lighting

I really enjoyed taking these photos in different lightings because they all created a different vibe and feel to it. It was really fun and interesting to learn how to take these photos and I learned a lot during the process of it. One of my favorite photos is the last one with edge lighting with Kiara in it because it gives a relax feel to it and a really calming vibe. It gives these vibes because of the edge lighting which I like a lot.

Learning Log #7 Portrait Lighting 1

Loop lighting

Broad Lighting

Short/Split Lighting

Rembrandt

Split lighting

I really like all of these photos because of the way they’re all unique and different from each other. My favorite one that I took was the first one of christian because of how we played with the gels to try to make a gradient kind of color with the blue and red. For each of these photos I made sure to position my models that way the photo would come out with the kind of lighting I wanted. Overall, this was fun to do and play around with because it was all different and fun.

Learning Log #6

My best 3 photos that I took for this assignment were these photos because I really like how I did the 1st photo with the low key light. I tried to make the setup look like a horror kind of theme because of halloween coming up this week and I wanted that theme to be represented. The other 2 photos that I took were with the high key setup and for this we used the soft box lights to make it brighter than the 1st photo. We had to change the camera settings for these 2 shots for it to look bright. Our theme for this shot was a kind of jurassic park theme and I wanted to showcase that. I learned a lot doing this assignment because I got to experiment and learn what low key and high key light was as well as learn how to create different moods within the photos.

Learning Log #5 Action/ Motion Portraits

I really like these 2 photos that I took because it shows semi motion and frozen motion really well. The first photo is semi motion and I took the photo while she was swinging in the swings, it shows the background in focus while she is blurred because of her swinging. I used a 1/30 shutter speed to catch this shot of her on the swing. The second photo is frozen motion and I told him to jump so I could capture frozen motion and I really like this one because it looks like he’s frozen in time. I also like that this looks like an ad campaign for sneakers/ a clothing brand which I find interesting. I used a shutter speed of 1/1000-1250 to capture the shot of him jumping really high into the air.
