The group assignment made me realize that something we get used to would not also apply to the freshmen. The cognitive inertia would make us miss and ignore some of the problems that are not a problem to us, but it would be a problem for freshmen. During the discussion, me and my group member noticed that nobody told us about the access to degreework at the beginning of college life, until somebody told us on the later day of college life.
The reading is all about the development of data visualization over time. The funny thing is that people did not try to develop the data visualization in the first place. However, during the development of statistics and maps, data visualization is becoming the crucial part. Whatever the demographic information, or the latitude and longitude over the map, data visualization provides a window for people to look for the relationship between numbers. Data visualization allows people to make deductions based on the relationship that they found between numbers, and make more precise predictions based on the deduction result, which grant people a glance of the future by the data from the past, and makes data visualization become so popular today.
