You are the Chief Concierge of an upscale hotel in Manhattan; you will conduct research to learn about a historically significant tourist attraction in New York City. This information will be used when you conduct a team training.

Task
Consider all that New York has to offer visitors and New Yorkers alike, consider a tourist attraction that has historic significance to the culture of New York; perhaps a museum, an art gallery, a park, a sports arena, a restaurant, monument, festival and so much more. Make a list that contains four historically significant New York tourist attractions and find a resource stating why it is significant.
List Four NYC attractions of interest
Choose one location to research and visit.
Research 1) what is the attraction’s significance to the culture of New York? 2) Why does the author consider it a tourist attraction? 3) what makes the attraction unique?
During your site visit 1) identify the perceived demographic of visitors, 2) seek examples of hospitality you witnessed, 3) take photographs of unique features of the tourist attraction

- Post your chosen tourist attraction on OpenLab as a response on the “Experiential Learning Assignment” page (do not create a post). Include a brief statement as to why this site is significant to the culture of New York including a reference
- Only one student per attraction
Written portion, 2-2½ page essay (10% of total grade)
- APA format and standards, proper grammar, sentence structure, spelling…
- Minimum of three credible references
- Exhibit the ability to evaluate the importance of the tourist attraction or historically significant location to the New York City hospitality industry
- Provide evidence of the importance of employees as a part of the product and how an employee influences the guest’s experience.

Oral presentation (10% of total grade)
- Students will be divided into groups (each person will work independently)
- Students will conduct a two minute presentation in small group settings of 3-4 people, no questions will be asked at this time (see oral communication rubric)
- Students should be prepared to repeat their presentation 4- 6 times to both classmates and faculty members
- Upon completion of the small group presentations, students will have the opportunity to ask individual questions to their classmates, one minute
- Students will nominate their peers’ presentation for a variety of “Best of…” awards.

I will be visiting Bowling Green Park in Manhattan. Bowling Green plays a significant role in the history of New York, New York was purchased for twenty four dollars from the Native Americans at this exact location. Also the rebellion against the British also started at Bowling Green Park.

I plan on visiting The Frick Collection (art museum.) Located on the Upper East Side, the museum displays quality and upscale pieces of art and furniture from the early 1900s. The museum defiantly sets an atmosphere of class and caters to visitors who enjoy that cultural aspect of NYC.

I choose this attraction because it’s One of the main attraction for tourist also how come i live in New York and never been here. This is An American family immigration historic center Since 1886 representing freedom ,liberty and opportunities .The Ellis museum Between 1892 and 1954 which more than 12 million immigrants passed through Ellis Island’s to enter the us in search of a better life.

I will visit Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York.
I plan to visit this location in Queens because this park has historical significance, as well as many educational and recreational activities for all ages. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park is home to the Queens Museum, New York Hall of Science, and Citifield Stadium which is home for the Mets baseball team.

I will be visiting the 9/11 Memorial & Museum
I chose this attraction because it is a very important piece of New York History. Also, it includes two parts, a memorial that remembers the nearly 3,000 people killed during 9/11. As well as the museum which shows you the implications of events that led up to the attack.

I will visit the High Line / Chelsea area.
I would like to visit this area because I hear about it all the time. Living in NYC for more than 20 years and I never walked the High Line!! Its a 1.45 mile walk total across the whole high line.

I will visit The High Line
The High Line is a public park is built on a once abandoned elevated rail line. The rail line was destined to be destroyed but was transformed to 1.5-mile long park for all people of ages to enjoy.

I would like to visit Bowling Green in Manhattan. Bowling Green has historical significance to New York, New York was purchased from the Native Americans at Bowling Green for a mere amount of $24.00 . The rebellion against the British Monarchy also began at Bowling Green . Bowling Green is known to be the oldest park in New York City.

The Rockefella Center is one of the top 10 things to visit in NYC. There are many things/events to participate in depending on the season. I’ve never been there even though I lived in NYC all my life.

The flatiron is a famous building know for its figure and structure. It attracts tourists and it still offers a incurable view of Manhattan.

I will be visiting the New York Public Library Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
I chose this attraction because it is a place that not many New Yorkers and tourists know about. It is the main branch of New York Public Libraries which stores over 15 million books. This library is located centrally in Manhattan and its architecture is so different from all the buildings surrounding it.

I will visit the Grand Central Terminal.
The Grand Central Terminal is a commuter rail terminal located at 42nd street and Park Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. It is known to be the oldest business in which first opened up in 1913, a lot of stores to roam around and spend time enjoying the view at the station.

I will visit the Empire State Building.
Located in Midtown Manhattan, this point of interest is a must-visit as the Empire State building is the few tallest buildings in the world, and is relevant to the NYC Skyline, and is part of any NYC vacation. There are over 102 floors alongside a observatory deck for visitors to take a view of NYC, the reason why this landmark attracts over 3.6 million people a year!

I will visit the Edgar Allen Poe Cottage.
This cottage is the former home of American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It is located on Kings-bridge Road and the Grand Concourse in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx. This cottage is not to far from my home, yet i’ve never been. I chose this location because I get to experience the environment where this historical legend wrote some of his best work.

I will visit Domino Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
This park is rich in history and known previously as where the infamous Domino Factory once operated. I want to visit here because I’ve heard about it from a friend who has told me about the beautiful location by the east river where people visit the modern attractions while they witness the rich history of the factory preserved in time behind them.

I would like to visit/walk the Brooklyn Bridge All the way from the first point to the end.
I would like to experience walking the Brooklyn Bridge because this is a very famous bridge that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan. Also this is the longest suspension bridge in the world.
