Aide Jimenez E- Profile Edit

My name is Aide Jimenez I’m a freshman in college and this is my first semester. As the semester comes to the end I have learned at lot from my classmates and professes. The one thing that stood out to me this semester was, how I was able to multitask with school work and work. I feel like I need more practice, but as time goes on I will hopeful be good at multitasking. Another thing that stood out was how patience I’m and how I work hard to get keep my work in balance.

My name is Aide Jimenez and since I was 12 I have admire decorating, and helping organized parties, but never did I thought I could study a filled and get paid for doing it. I have always loved how decoration was my escape and my the only thing in my mind, it had helped me focus to be patient and calm. I never thought that hotels attracted me so much that every time I saw a hotel I imagine how the decoration looked like inside I will used my imagination to picture it and play around in my head. when my college counselor told me that I can actually study the things that I love, I was shock and exited to start a new chapter in my life.

Thankful to have experience the things I have this semester I  have met great people with a good head on their shoulder that are kind enough to guide you on the right direction. I’m looking forward to keep pushing myself and putting myself out there to keep developing understanding of the industry.

Aiming to be part of the hospitality field to grow in a personal and professional aspect. Learn about the industry and the career it brings.

My first job after high school was Room Attendant at a hotel in Queens (Paper Factory Hotel) I worked there  from 2014-2016. Presently,  I work at another hotel Four Points by Sheraton as a Room Attendant. After I enrolled in to college decided I will have a career in Nursing, however, I enjoy every moment of my room attendant  job. Later, I decided to change my major. The college I was attending did not offered hospitality management I transferred to CityTech. My first few weeks at CityTech have been great, my lectures are very informative. My experience in the hospitality industry and the incredible program CityTech offers  will help me reach my goal to become a General Manager at a five star hotel. I know with hard work and determination I will succeed.

Gharbia Bhatti

Hi there ! first of all let me introduce myself. My name is Gharbia Bhatti , I recently graduated from CUNY Kingsborough Community College with an Associate’s Degree of Business Administration. I am a junior here at City Tech, I decided to major in hospitality and management because since the age of ten I have helped my parents finalize billing payments as well as balance their check book.  My ultimate goal is to become a general manager of a hotel such as Marriott or Four seasons. Speaking from my academic experience  reading assigned chapters before a lecture is really helpful , if you’ve read the chapter before hand you’ll understand the content of the lecture much better.  My academic goals for this semester are not to procrastinate and complete my assignments on time as well as read the assigned chapters before hand as I mentioned before. Speaking of career experience I have volunteered at a tourism and travel company known as ” United Hajj Travel” from the year 2015- 2016 . I worked as a receptionist meaning I answered phone calls , booked airplane tickets , made hotel reservations for our customers . As I mentioned above I one day hope to become a general manager of a hotel chain such as Marriott . Personal strengths that I have which will later become attributes are patience , respectfulness and determination. I am always respectful to others no matter the situation.I believe that if I respect others they’ll respect me in return. Determination is key to achieve anything , without determination you cannot reach your goals. I believe my personal strengths can help me thrive and succeed in the hospitality industry because the hospitality industry business requires a lot of patience as well as respect towards the guests at the area of service.

I’ve always found myself to be an amazing people person since a very young age I’ve always known i wanted to cook and work and the hospitality management industry. When i finish school i want to either own my restaurant, run my own food truck, or start a small catering company which eventually I would turn into a catering hall. I’ve worked in so many fast food places, diners, catering halls from McDonalds’ to fine dining and I’ve honestly enjoyed every single job I’ve had and its because I truly enjoy what I do. I work very well with others, am very talkative, very driven and passionate about my job and what I want for myself in the future. At almost 25 years of age I know exactly where I want to be in 5-10 years.

Having had experience in college going through that process of finding out who I am as a student and just a person overall, the most important thing was finding out what I really wanted out of life. As a student, I had moments where I wasn’t doing what I needed to do to succeed and I had to evaluate myself. I want to be able to be on top of things in everything that involves school and get the grades I know I deserve to get. I have had the great opportunity to work front of the house when it comes to the food service industry by being a server for catering companies. Although I have enjoyed working front of the house, working back of the house is really where I want to be and where I feel like I thrive. Also, I want to own my own bed and breakfast and hopefully expand it to a chain around the world. I find myself being able to listen to things once and pick them up and do it. Also, hospitality plays a huge role in who I am and where I want to go in life. I love the feeling of being able to help and service others and putting smiles on their faces. This school year I hope to do as good as I know I can and get a better understanding of what it really means to be in the hospitality industry.

I am a person who have worked in many different job fields. Such as the medical field, fast food, education, and the armed forces. Whenever I decided I wanted to change careers I took the necessary steps to achieve my goal. Presently, I want to learn about culinary arts and the tools I need to cook healthy cuisines at home and at my own business. Growing up I hated being in the kitchen but now as a mom I love cooking. My love for cooking begin when I first was introduce to the food channel network. Watching the shows and competitions reminded me of my years when I was studying dance and fine arts. My dreams as a dancer was shattered by my parents when I was told to choose a real career (their words not mine). As a result, I spent a lot of money and time on career paths I was not passionate about. Now I am at a point in my life where I want to wake up every day knowing I am doing something that I love.

Throughout high school I was in the academy of hospitality and tourism, and at the time I didn’t know if that was the path I wanted to continue on. Once it came to picking colleges I made the executive decision to stick with hospitality courses. I have always had a deep love and appreciation for traveling and cooking, which I feel made my decision easier. As of right now I am exploring my options within the industries because I am not certain as to what I want to do for a career. My career, as of right now, is working with elementary school children, so I have a lot of patience when it comes to dealing with people. The future of my career, although uncertain, is one that I am looking forward to.

I have always wanted to cook since high school and wanted to culinary arts in college. However, growing up as a first-generation Chinese American meant that expectations were to get a good paying job that can support me, my parents and my future family, and culinary arts just was not an option given to me. Therefore, I temporarily had to give it up.

During my past five years in college, I have been rediscovering myself and looking for other paths, but I still wanted to cook (or at least do something related to food), and had opportunities to volunteer at my church, do prep work for SUNY Buffalo Dining Services, and work at the Qdoba right around my home. I started to learn about what hospitality is and I realized that there are ways to pursue my dream and also meet the expectations of my parents and grandparents. Then early this year, that was when I discovered CityTech’s Hospitality Management program.

In the future, I still do want to cook, but I am open to other options that CityTech has to offer me. I am really looking forward to this semester and working with everyone for the next few years!
