As a Special Events Coordinator you’ll expect me to attend various of events but thats not really the case I more so plan the events and currently we do have events that are coming up. I mostly attend meeting about our upcoming events that we are having such like our Harlem clean up day we are having this month and our Banner Competition we are going to have in the next couple of months. Though at these meetings I haven’t meet anyone I consider as a role model or mentor but I do consider my supervisor, Tasemere as a mentor. In the first couple of weeks I started to work at the BID we had a great discussion on the train about what I plan to do after college. She talked to me about exploring new thing like going to these meet up events with people in different fieldsĀ so that I can really get a well rounded view about what’s out there. In addition she just a good, king hearted person and you can see this in the little things she does like one time she shared some of her lunch with me when I didn’t eat anything for the day. I very much enjoy working with her on the events the BID is having because her responses and comments makes you think more and you start to come up with new ideas. When your stuck on where to start on a new project she always gives you some pointers to think about or asks you questions to help get you started. One last thing that she does which I think is great is that she allows you to work on what you’re great at. In my discussions I have with her she always brings up this ideology, she believe that to be successful in what you do you must do what your great at, you must strengthen your strengths.
I’veĀ learned from all the staff I worked with at the BID and over the past months I’ve worked here I can definitely say I’ve learned plenty, the type of information and advice you take with you for the rest of my life.
