Team project

One of your team responsibilities is to put together the queueing area for a new roller coaster.

The area is 20 feet by 50 feet. You are anticipating a one hour wait due to the popularity of the new ride. You plan to allow 2 guests per 3.3 sq feet.

Answer the questions in order

Part 1

  1. How many guests can you accommodate in the queue line, so the wait is no longer than one hour? Assumptions below
    1. Guests are arriving at 40 people every 5 minutes.
    1.  20 guests are departing every 5 minutes to the loading coaster area.

Hint:      N=T * (A-D)

  • N=number of people in the queue (After time T)
  • T= Time (minutes, hours)
  • A= Arrivals per unit of time (T)
  • D= Departures per unit of time (T)

Part 2

  • What is total number of guests you will allow enter the waiting area for the attraction, so the wait time never exceeds 60 minutes?
  • how long your does your queue path needs to be if the max wait is 60 minutes?

Part 3

  • Install the two interactive experiences in your queue line path keeping the total length intact. Each experience must have a fire exit nearby in case guests want to leave the attraction.
  • You have permission to move the locations of the fire exits. There must be at least one fire exit for each compass direction.
  • Is the allocated space large enough to house the queue line and the interactive experiences?
  • You may design the location to be larger if needed. If this is the case how much space do you need?
  • Create a ground plan with the dimensions of the queue lines and interactive spaces, total queue line length and fire exits noted.
  • The header should include all team members names, their job titles, and contributions.
  • Make a power point explaining the site, problems you discovered and solutions.

Interactive Experience 1

Guest walk by the stationary cube and push buttons to hear sounds of the ride

Interactive Experience 2

  • Guests walk around a two-sided video wall of an amazing train scene
